And For Good Reason

I’ve often found my media consumption to be parallel with the villain from Ratatouille:

“I don’t like food, I love it. If I don’t love it, I don’t swallow.”

I’m not gonna be that guy who sits and bitches aloud as he watches things with friends or family, but when I’m alone, if I don’t like something, I stop watching.

In my old age, I’m growing to be more accepting. But I never understood the concept of Hate Watching.

You’re just punishing yourself.

With the animated Scooby-Doo spinoff Velma getting a second season, it’s now obvious that there are enough Hate Watchers to make a significant (albeit unintended) impact. So here I sit, like a conservative parent and their gay teen son, utterly whelmed by this new internet culture that I have to now live alongside.

This piece of artwork doesn’t affect them. The amount of art that I ignore on a daily basis, through no effort, is staggering! How hard is it to simply keep scrolling?

To quote The Princess Bride: “Life is pain, highness.”

Movies, books, hell even social media, are all forms of escapism.

Why anyone would want to subject themselves to more pain, in their free time, is beyond me.
